Another advantage is the great flexibility of bitumen and foil roofing: They adapt easily to almost any roof. Combined with their low weight, they are an ideal solution for many pitched roofs.
When installing photovoltaic systems on foil or bitumen roofs, particular care must be taken to ensure that the substructure is installed without penetration. The integrity of the roof cladding also ensures optimum tightness and thermal insulation. It is also important to ensure that suitable building protection mats are used when attaching the photovoltaic system.

METIS: Innovative PV fastening for pitched roofs with bitumen or foil.
METIS enables completely penetration-free photovoltaic installation on foil and bitumen pitched roofs with an inclination of up to 30 degrees. It has been tested for stability in a WtG-approved boundary layer wind tunnel and aerodynamically optimized for reduced wind loads. A 130 mm wide gap between the rows of modules mounted on edge ensures a low-ballast system.
We use a calculation tool designed by the I.F.I Institute in Aachen to create project-specific wind suction and displacement calculations. The PV mounting is secured against slipping either via the ridge if both sides of the roof are covered or by means of individual solutions. Our tried-and-tested CHRONOS center clamps guarantee quick and easy installation of the modules.
