New Grounding Plate from T.Werk: secure equipotential bonding, faster installation

Reliable equipotential bonding is a central component of every professionally designed photovoltaic mounting system. With T.Werk’s new grounding plate, available pre-assembled upon request, the electrical connection between the module frame, mid clamp, and mounting rail is established particularly easily, securely, and installation-friendly.

The grounding plate supports grounding and lightning protection concepts by creating a low-resistance electrical contact and mechanically penetrating the anodized layer of anodized aluminum surfaces. This creates a permanent conductive connection even where oxide or anodized layers can normally impede contact.

Automatic Contacting During Installation
The major advantage: Contacting occurs automatically when the mid clamp is screwed on. The contact teeth, arranged on both sides, engage with the module frame and mid clamp. When the clamp is tightened, they locally penetrate the anodized layer, thereby establishing direct metallic contact.

This ensures reliable equipotential bonding between the relevant components of the substructure – without additional work steps or separate contacting measures.

Time Savings on the Construction Site
Since the grounding plate can be supplied pre-assembled, the installation effort is significantly reduced. Installers save time, avoid additional handling, and benefit from a clean, repeatable solution directly in the clamping area.
The special holding function of the grounding plate in conjunction with the spring under the mid clamp ensures that the grounding plate is held in its upper position at all times. This allows the photovoltaic module to be inserted into the mounting system without obstruction.

Especially for larger PV systems, these advantages can be noticeable: fewer individual parts, less rework, fewer sources of error, and faster installation progress.

Secure Contact Despite Anodized Layer
Anodized aluminum surfaces are corrosion-resistant but pose an electrical challenge. This is precisely where the grounding plate comes in: the special crimping or contact claws locally remove the anodized layer and enable a conductive connection between the module frame and the clamp. This supports a permanently reliable electrical connection in the overall system.

Robust, Weather-Resistant, and Durable
The grounding plate is made of corrosion-resistant stainless steel grade A2 / 1.4301. It is UV and weather-resistant and thus designed for continuous use in PV mounting systems. Installation is carried out as a mechanical clamping connection directly under the mid clamp.

Conclusion
With the new pre-assembled grounding plate, T.Werk offers a well-engineered solution for secure equipotential bonding in PV mounting systems. It combines automatic contacting, reliable penetration of the anodized layer, and significant time savings during installation.

For installers, this means: a simple, robust, and practical solution for greater safety and efficiency on the roof.
